One of the most beautiful and understated moments in the Gospels happens right at the start of Jesus’ ministry. Two disciples are standing with John the Baptist when he points to Jesus and says, “Look, the Lamb of God.” One of those men is Andrew. He follows Jesus, spends time with Him, and becomes convinced that this really is the Messiah. And the very first thing Andrew does is wonderfully ordinary. He goes to find his brother Simon. John’s Gospel tells us:

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah’...and he brought him to Jesus.

John 1 v 40—42

That one small sentence, “he brought him to Jesus” is one of the great summaries of Christian mission.

Andrew didn’t have a plan.
He didn’t have a programme.
He didn’t have answers to every question.

He simply knew Jesus was worth knowing, and he cared enough about his brother to bring him. And through that simple act of bringing, Simon’s (later named Peter) whole life changed.

This is the picture that shapes everything in this booklet. A church full of ordinary people who quietly, faithfully bring others one step closer to Jesus — and trust Him to do what only He can do.

That is what we mean when we talk about becoming a bringing church. Although Andrew did not have a plan, most of us need a little help to do what Andrew did.

Bring One

The way we are going to become a bringing church is simple: Bring One.

We are asking every member of Knock to focus on one person God has placed in their life — one person they will pray for, build friendship with, and seek to bring a step closer to Jesus over time. That’s it!

Not a programme for a few people.
Not a complicated system.
Just one, clear, simple call for everyone.

This is how our whole church will become a bringing church. Through hundreds of ordinary Christians taking small, faithful steps with one person they know and care about.

Bring One Pathway

Bring One isn’t about pressure or quick results. It’s about walking with someone over time and trusting God to work as we take small, faithful steps. So rather than asking people to jump straight from no faith to full commitment, we follow a simple pathway — a way of helping someone move one step at a time towards Jesus.

The Bring One pathway has five movements:

Choose One

Pray for One

Share life with One

Bring One to events

Bring One to explore

Choose One

This journey starts with identifying one person you’d love to see come to know, enjoy, and follow Jesus. Not ten. Not three. Just one!

Choose someone who fits these simple qualities:

  • Someone you already have a relationship with: a neighbour; colleague; teammate; fellow parent; friend; or family member

  • Someone of the same gender. This keeps things simple, wise, and appropriate as friendships deepen

  • Someone you could realistically spend time with and bring into your life, and to events

  • Someone you long to see know, enjoy and follow Jesus

You may not have a person in mind, so start by asking God to put someone on your mind.

Pray for One

Before we bring anyone to an event, or to explore more about Jesus, we first must bring them to God in prayer. Prayer is where the real work begins, because salvation is God’s work long before it’s ours. We’ll help you do this by sharing prayer points, and encouraging you to pray regularly for your one.

Join the Bring One WhatsApp Group for prayer points, prompts, and encouragement. This will also be a source of information about upcoming events.

Share life with One

Before we bring someone to an event, we need to bring them into our lives. This is one of the most important parts of Bring One, and also one of the simplest. We are not turning people into projects — we are being intentional with the relationships God has already given us.

Most people don’t first encounter Jesus in a church service or a Bible talk. They meet Him through the kindness, honesty, patience, and grace of a Christian friend. They see what faith looks like in everyday life — in how you speak, forgive, cope, hope, and keep going when life is hard.

Bringing someone into your life means making space in ordinary ways: a coffee, a walk, a meal, a lift, a message that checks in. Nothing dramatic — but deeply powerful. As trust grows, people share their stories, their worries, their questions. And it is in that safe, honest space that God so often begins to work.

Friendship really matters in evangelism. People are far more open when they know they are loved. But friendship on its own isn’t the end — it’s the beginning. Which is why our next step is to bring our one towards Jesus.

Bring One to events

Helping People Connect & Belong

Bridge Events are designed to be the easiest place to start. They are social, relaxed, and friendly — with no pressure and no religious input at all.

These might include: Men’s Events, Women’s Events, the Community Hub, Young Adult Events, Knock Tots, Family Events and many others.

The purpose of Bridge events is simple: to help people connect with real Christians and feel that Knock is a place where they belong.

For many people, church feels unfamiliar or intimidating. Bridge events remove that barrier. They let your one meet people, laugh, talk, and relax — and quietly discover that church is full of normal, welcoming people. This is often where awkwardness disappears and trust begins.

Helping people see Jesus is real and relevant

Spark events are designed to be warm, welcoming, and highly relational events where people enjoy being together. They’re not formal meetings. They feel like real life: food, conversation, laughter, and time to connect.

But Spark events do something more. They create moments where people begin to see that Jesus is real, and that He matters for everyday life.

At the heart of Spark events are stories. Real people sharing real experiences — about doubt and faith, pain and hope, loss and healing, guilt and forgiveness, anxiety and peace. These aren’t polished performances. They are honest accounts of how Jesus has met people in the middle of their ordinary, messy, beautiful lives.

Stories have a unique power. They help people think,

“That sounds true.”
“That sounds like something I need.”
“That might be real.”

Spark events may also take the form of short, practical courses on the things people genuinely care about, like money, bereavement, marriage, parenting, anxiety, forgiveness, resilience.

These courses will be shaped by biblical wisdom, not in a preachy way, but in a way that shows how God’s word speaks into the real pressures and questions of everyday life. They help people see that the Bible is not distant or outdated — it is deeply relevant to the lives we are all actually living.

Spark events do not pressure anyone to make a decision. They do not push people to believe. They simply help people begin to see that faith in Jesus makes sense — that it connects with their world, their struggles, and their longings.

That’s why we call them Spark Events. They aim to light a small flame of curiosity, that God can fan into a flame.

Bring One to explore

Helping People Explore the Person of Jesus

At some point, many people reach a moment where they want more than a story or a conversation. They want to understand what Christians actually believe. They want to know who Jesus really is, why He matters, and what it would mean to follow Him. That’s where Explore Events come in.

Explore events will include Alpha and Christianity Explored — spaces designed especially for people who are curious, questioning, or searching. They are not church services. They are relaxed, welcoming environments built around good food, honest discussion, and time to think.

Alpha has helped millions of people around the world take their first real steps towards Jesus. It creates a space where people can ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask, share what they really think, and hear the heart of the Christian message clearly and simply.

Alongside that, Christianity Explored gives a strong, Bible-centred journey through the life of Jesus. Together, these two courses give us a brilliant way of walking with people at different stages — whether they are just beginning to be curious, or ready to look closely at who Jesus really is.

Alpha opens the door. Christianity Explored helps people step inside. Over a number of weeks, people get to explore the person of Jesus — His life, His words, His death, and His resurrection — and what all of that means for their own lives.

Your role is simple: bring your one along and walk with them.

You do not have to explain everything.
You do not have to lead.
You do not have to have the answers.

Just being there with them — sitting beside them, is often what gives people the courage to start and keep exploring.

Together

This isn’t something for a few of us to do, it’s something for all of us to be part of. Each of us knows someone who needs Jesus.

As we step into becoming a bringing church, we want to support you in simple, practical ways. We will provide short workshops and training sessions to help you grow in confidence when it comes to having spiritual conversations, sharing your story, and talking about Jesus in everyday life.

Alongside that, we will keep everyone connected and informed through regular communication. This will include: prayer prompts, gentle reminders, upcoming Bridge, Spark, and Explore events, and simple encouragement along the way.
